What is Masters Swimming?

The club offers coached 'Masters' sessions. This is for anyone aged 18 and over who can swim confidently but need extra tuition in any/all strokes to improve technique, stamina, breathing. 

They are particularly useful for those competing in triathlons, considering open water swimming or those wishing to compete at regional/national masters championships. 

Swimmers wishing to join the Masters should be able to swim a minimum of 400m front crawl without stopping and have an understanding of the basics for the other strokes.

As well as perfecting stroke technique, the sessions also cover tumble-turns, lane etiquette and diving. The session is made up of drills focusing on different aspects of the stroke or doing distance work to improve stamina.

Masters are also welcome to participate in our open water swimming sessions (additional cost).

RSC runs two Masters sessions each week - on Wednesday evening from 20.10 to 21.10 and Friday evening from 20.10 to 21.40.  Members can choose to swim one or both sessions subject to spaces, with payment options as follows:

Additionally, there is a membership fee payable on joining and annually thereafter on 30th  November, to cover RSC and Swim England membership and insurance costs.  These are as follows:


Competitive Masters (SE Club compete) £60 (if you intend to enter galas/meets)

Non-competitive Masters (SE Club Train) £35 (if you just want to train)

You can upgrade at anytime for a competition.

More than one Member?

The club offers a sibling discount where more than one family member swims with the club, which you may apply for on joining.

How do i join?

Prospective members are welcome to come along on a Wednesday or Friday night for a free ‘taster’ session.
