Are you interested in joining our club?

RSC is a competitive swimming club and accepts swimmers through a trial swim from age 8 years and up.  We require that swimmers have completed a minimum of ASA swimming lesson level 7 before trialling.

We do not offer swimming lessons.

Trials take place on a regular basis and are by invitation only.  If you are interested in joining RSC, you can request a trial by completing the form below.

Please be aware that demand for trials and places is often high and you may have to wait a few weeks or months.

If you are a member of another swimming club, please let the coaches at your current club know that you have contacted us.  This will help to avoid any unnecessary embarrassment that may be caused if they are not aware of your intentions.

After the trial you will be told whether or not we can offer you a place in the club.  If successful, you will be invited to join a particular squad.  If you are unsuccessful, you will be given feedback and a suggested timeframe for reapplying.

Squad overview

Our minimum expectations for squads are detailed below.

Transitions, Skills and Development, we expect swimmers trialling to have achieved:

Age 7/8yrs, ASA level 6 or aboveUnder 9s are not allowed to compete in Swim England competitions.

Age 9 yrs to 13 yrs,  ASA level 7 or above

Transitions:

This squad is for swimmers progressing from swimming lessons, the aims are to develop listening skills and respond positively to feedback. Lane discipline and learning the necessary skills to compete confidently.

Skills:

This squad is for swimmers progressing from Transitions and focusses on gaining good technique.

Development:

This squad is for swimmers progressing from Skills to ensure they can start to look at using strokes efficiently and starting to understand Race Strategies for competitions.

Performance (Junior and Senior):

These are competitive squads, and swimmers will often be competing regularly and achieving times to enable competing and ranking in their age group, some at a County level or higher. Swimmers must be swimming competitively at another club and wishing to transfer clubs, a willingness to do the tasks taking place in the training session. The ability to listen to instructions with an obvious enjoyment of swimming - we want the swimmers to be there because they enjoy it!

Fitness:

Or for teenagers 13yrs+ who wish to start club swimming, this squad would be ideal and we expect at trial that they can swim at least three strokes strongly and the fourth may be weaker that they wish to work on improving their swimming and fitness and will attend the sessions for their squad.

From here, if they show good skill development we may move them into our competitive squads, should they wish to progress their swimming even further.

This squad is also for our older swimmers (14-18) that want to continue swimming but aren’t able to commit to swimming competitively, maybe temporarily due to exams or other sporting commitments, and want to keep fit to race, or just keep fit.  Swimming is at a strong level and a good level of fitness is required.

Masters (18yrs+):

Must be able to swim a minimum of 400m front crawl non-stop, a basic understanding and willingness to train in all four swimming strokes. Anyone wishing to join Masters will be offered the opportunity to come along to a Masters Squad session to try a session and see if it suits them before joining RSC.
